There’s a reason visual entertainment is so powerful. Movies, television, even artwork, make an emotional connection.
But how do we do this in eLearning?
Lisa Zeitlhuber addresses just that on uxdesign.cc with her article “The Most Overlooked Growth Hack: Designing for Emotions.” She describes how emotional connection plays a huge part in how people respond to software design. And we can apply many of the same principles to eLearning design.
If you want the learner to engage and retain the information, there has to be an emotional connection.
For eLearning, creating realistic scenarios is important, but don’t forget to inject emotions to encourage empathy. Humor is another great course element to add; it can make the experience all the more memorable.
